Only my Daddy is allowed to run this foundry! And when he is not looking, I play
with them to!! Grrrrr! Doty |
My Body Lift Furnace |
My camera was not working when I built this furnace, this was my 2nd. Well, actually
my 3rd but the 2nd success. It has a 10" chamber and 3" walls and sides. I built it where I can either use the lid or lift the body for access. I can use a normal Silicon or Graphite crucible and retreive them for pouring without using a special set of lifting/pouring tongs by lifting the body, or I can use a homemade pipe crucible and lift from the top if I choose. These pix were taken while building cast, lifting and hinging of the top |

If you look hard enough, you can see where I took a regular bearing from a machine
transmission and used it on the backside of the pole, this fixed the slide from
binding caused by the weight of the furnace body |
